These are my finalized logo, bookmark logo design & color palette I’ve chosen for my blog. It was a bit of process getting to the colors & design, but I knew how I wanted it to look right from the sketching stages.
I knew I wanted to have a circle to represent the shape of bubbles but also wanted to capture the free-floating effect bubbles have. I drew bubbles & put my initials on them, but it looks boring & I didn’t want to put a literal picture of bubbles. I also laid out the letters of my name to mimic the free flow of bubbles, which I liked but I ended up being my second choice. I tried using 2 curve lines & 2 letters to give a minimal look of a circle & bubbles but I felt it was too minimal & a bit generic. I even tried a minimal circle with my full name but that felt generic too. So I added a triangle to give it some edge & give the eye something to follow, but it so represents water, like how bubbles fizz from a tub of water. This design also allowed me to be able to play around with more than 2-3 colors since it broke apart the circle & allow me to play with color combos. It seems to be the most liked design when I asked for opinions.
Between the two designs, I knew I wanted something colorful, fun & something that would pop. The final design was able to portray that with all the geo shape as well as bold letters. I played around with a lot of color combos, but I settled on two colors, purple & blue but with 2 different values light & dark. Having 3-4 main colors would have made it harder to match. So I kept it simple. I played around with a ton of typefaces, & kept mixing it up until it felt right to my eye. I settled for the last logo on the bottom with the small, spacey, clean & straight lines with a subtext of “a beauty blog” with a rounder & bolder typeface.
However, in the end, I changed it because the logo didn’t translate as well when shrunk & lost a lot of its text details. So I took out the subtext & bumped up the size on the name. For the bookmark logo, I just took the circle from the main logo, put a “B” on it & cut out an F. I changed the colors around so it can be read more clearly. The bookmark design was actually done on a whim & took me 5 mins, but I like how it ended up, but I might change it around later if it starts bothering me.
